A Penny for Your Tears
Project: Amuse Gueule
Elephant Tears delicately piled on a small copper wafer. The diner is invited to place the wafer in his or her mouth, so that the salt slowly dissolves while the metallic taste of the copper cloaks the middle of the tastebud field. A hint of sage oil is revealed after the salt has been consumed. A small spatula is provided with which to remove the inedible copper wafer from the mouth.

Yes, organically produced tears from an elephant dried. The menu might list thename of the elephant. PETA doesn’t know what it takes to make the elephant cry, and if they did, well, let’s just say that they might invoke the Geneva Convention.

Or more likely, CITES.
This could lead to fraud as domestic animal sanctuaries try to pass off bear tears as elephant.

Where do you get your copper? I prefer my copper wafers smelted by Romanian shepherds.
