In her job as a buyer for an auction house that specialized in odd international artifacts, Corin had met all kinds of people; in fact, it had been one of her favorite perks. She remembered with particular fondness the funny little wrinkled man in Sumatra who had given her the strange musical orb: a smooth, reflective black sphere about the size of a tennis ball that, when shaken, seemed to play a soft echoing music. He’d had such a memorable laugh.
